TECO’s Steve Swinson Judges Prestigious National Engineering Competition

In February 2017, Thermal Energy Corp.’s President and CEO Steve Swinson, PE, was part of a nationwide panel that assessed exemplary engineering achievements in the American Council of Engineering Companies’ (ACEC) annual Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) competition.

Swinson was on a panel of more than 30 built-environment professionals from throughout the nation who ranked 162 projects from the U.S. and throughout the world that were entered in the 2017 EEA contest. The panel comprised engineers and architects and representatives from government, the media and academia.

All EEA award winners will be honored as pre-eminent 2017 engineering triumphs at the black-tie 50th Anniversary Engineering Excellence Awards Gala Celebration, known as the “Academy Awards of the Engineering Industry.” The gala will be held Tues., April 25, 2017, in Washington, D.C.

Award criteria included uniqueness and originality, technical innovation, social and economic value, complexity, and success in enhancing the practice of engineering.

All top award winners – 20 Honor Awards, 16 Grand Awards – will be announced in March 2017. Chosen from the 16 Grand Award winners, the prestigious “Grand Conceptor Award” for the year’s most outstanding overall engineering achievement will be revealed only on the night of the April gala.

The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) is the business association of America's engineering industry. It represents the more than 5,000 independent engineering firms and more than 500,000 professionals throughout the US. who are engaged in the development of America's transportation, water and energy infrastructure and environmental, industrial and other public and private facilities.
