Congratulations to Howard Tellepsen, Jr., on 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award

Howard Tellepsen, Jr., a TECO board member, was named the Houston Business Journal’s Landmark Awards 2021 Lifetime Achievement Honoree for his dedication to Tellepsen, the construction industry and the Houston community. He is currently chairman of Tellepsen, a fourth-generation family business based in Houston.

HBJ’s President and Publisher Bob Charlet (at left in photo) introduced Mr. Tellepsen during the April ceremony and noted that the company’s longevitity – and Mr. Tellepsen’s role in its success – is one reason he was named the 2021 recipient.

The Tellepsen company has been a major part of Houston’s growth since its founding in 1909 by Mr. Tellepsen’s grandfather, a Norwegian immigrant and carpenter. The company has played a major role in constructing facilities at the Texas Medical Center and landmarks throughout Houston.

In accepting the award, Mr. Tellepsen expressed his gratitude and reflected on the commitment that has made the company among just 3% of family-owned businesses that survive four generations: “My path to this award began with a teenage Norwegian boy, my grandfather, who was willing to take the risk to come to America and realize his dreams. We have continued to have a multigenerational dedication to excellence and to giving back to our community. We have been consistently drawn to opportunities that are larger than ourselves. It is invigorating to be a part of a community where everyone has the opportunity to realize their full potential.”

TECO is pleased that the Tellepsen company is our business partner. Most recently Tellepsen Industrial served as contractor for our steam line replacement project. The company’s experience with similar work at the Texas Medical Center and in tight spaces helped strengthen the design and reduced costly field changes.

Thank you, Tellepsen, and congratulations, Mr. Tellepsen, on your receipt of Houston Business Journal’s 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award. It is an honor to work with you and your colleagues.
