Job Title: EHS Engineer

Thermal Energy Corporation (TECO) currently has an opening for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer. The EHS Engineer will perform professional and administrative work developing and implementing environmental, health, and safety programs. The EHS Engineer is to reduce or eliminate occupational accidents, injuries, and/or financial losses. In addition, the EHS Engineer is to conduct investigations of accidents causing personal injury and conducts supervisory and employee training in safety.

Candidates must have in depth knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), City of Houston, Harris County, Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The candidate is to have the ability to:

  • Read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Effectively present information to top management and employees.
  • Respond to common inquiries or concerns from regulatory agencies, management and employees.
  • Meet attendance standards and to work long hours when necessary.

 

Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in environmental or occupational health and safety engineering, or the applied sciences from an accredited college with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial or power plant safety and health program administration, or an equivalent level of education and experience. A CSP or CIH certification is preferred, and a valid Texas driver’s license required. Texas P.E. license preferred. Must be dependable, a self-starter with ability to function at a high level, good communicator, basic computer skills, and have strong interpersonal skills.

 

Physical requirements: ability to climb stairs, lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. We perform drug screening and criminal background investigations.
