Job Title: Instrumentation Technician II

Thermal Energy Corporation (TECO) is currently seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our team as an Instrument Technician II. Once selected, the successful candidate will be working in an industrial a plant environment for one of the largest district energy systems in the United States. TECO maintains gas/steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, gas/oilfield boilers, electric/steam driven chillers, cooling towers, water treatment systems, custody transfer metering and various types of plant control systems.

 

Instrument Technicians II are journey-level class technicians that work under general supervision, independently performing essential functions at an advanced level.

Essential Functions:

  • Install, program, inspect, adjust, calibrate and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and related information systems. Perform tests, interpret readings and outputs, and ensure proper functioning of equipment and related information systems.
  • Quickly identify non-operative and malfunctioning systems, troubleshoot failures to determine root causes and develop solutions to avoid repeat failures.
  • Respond to call-outs.
  • Organize work assignments and set priorities.
  • Check job sites for potential hazards, understand and adhere to all applicable safety rules, regulations, practices and procedures.
  • Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of TECO’s mission by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be proficient in the use of tools and test equipment used to test, calibrate, maintain and repair electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and related information systems.
  • Must understand concepts, materials and terminology related to instrumentation and utilities systems.
  • Best practices for installation of various types of pressure, temperature and flow instrumentation.
  • Reading and interpreting manuals, specifications and drawings.
  • Reading and interpreting meters, gauges, charts, and a variety of instruments.
  • Reading and interpreting design, P&ID, control and electrical drawings.

 

Educational and/or experience requirements consist of Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in industrial instrumentation involving the controls and analysis for gas turbines, chillers, boilers, and cooling towers.

 

Applicants physically must be able to climb several sets of stairs, lift, bend, stoop, and do extensive walking, climbing, & standing for long periods of time. Must be able to move or lift up to 100 lbs. Work environment includes exposure to indoor/outdoor conditions & high noise volume.
