In April 2025, TECO proudly received the 2025 Award of Excellence in Turbine Inlet Cooling by the Turbine Inlet Cooling Association (TICA). The organization received this award thanks to the team’s proficiency in leveraging chilled water with thermal energy storage for turbine inlet cooling (TIC). Gas Turbine Generator 2 utilizes TIC, which has increased the output capacity of the new unit by 23% compared to an uncooled inlet system. Nick Walsh, gas turbine specialist, accepted the award on TECO’s behalf during the 2025 WTUI Western Turbine Users Inc. Conference.
