The first half of 2023 has been a busy one at TECO, with new staff joining the team, a significant installation project underway, and the organization’s unwavering focus around planning for and providing reliable service to the Texas Medical Center. As an organization, TECO also recognizes the benefits of team-building – and so far this year, the event planning committee has delivered some impressive celebrations with plenty of Texas spirit.
Few things are as iconic to Houston as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. TECO’s “Go Texan” luncheon is an annual event that takes place in February in honor of “Go Texan Day,” to help build momentum for the month’s exciting lineup of concerts, events, and civic celebrations. This year’s luncheon featured a full spread of authentic BBQ for all employees, contractors, and visitors on-site for the day, set to the soundtrack of favorite country music songs.
TECO hit the road in April, heading down to Galveston for a full Saturday at Moody Gardens. TECO family and friends were included along for the ride, as everyone enjoyed a day pass to explore the various attractions. In between wandering through the Garden’s aquarium, museum, and immersive rainforest exhibit, TECO hosted a group buffet lunch so everyone could recharge and reconnect. It can be hard to pick a favorite moment in a day which includes everything from penguins and palm trees to sharks and sloths – and the team definitely counted this spring outing as a success.
It was another family-favorite event in early June as TECO took in an evening at the ballpark, cheering along as the Astros played (and won against) the Los Angeles Angels. The game included an amazing 4th inning grand slam by the home team and plenty of other exciting moments before ending with a final score of 9-6. The TECO section of some 140 employees and their families brought the team spirit with plenty of blue and orange gear, also snagging the evening’s promotional Jeremy Pena bobblehead giveaway as an extra bonus.
Leading up to the 4th of July long weekend, TECO also hosted an “Independence Day Luncheon.” Held onsite, employees were treated to a catered meal of burgers with all the fixings.
TECO is proud to be able to cultivate an organization which successfully prioritizes a high level of customer service alongside a connected, company culture.
