TECO’s Elves Deliver Gifts for Children

For the third year in a row, TECO helped brighten the spirits of children and teens at institutions on the Texas Medical Center campus over the holiday season. In mid-December, TECO volunteers delivered 115 employee-donated gifts to Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The toy and gift drive began just before Thanksgiving and concluded with TECO’s Christmas breakfast where we announced how many items have been donated. This year’s goal was 100 gifts, so we are pleased to have exceeded our target!

TECO places gift-wrapped moving boxes in our training room so employees and contractors easily can drop off their donations according to age groups (babies and toddlers, boys 5-12, girls 5-12, and teens). We also use donated cash to purchase gifts in the most-needed categories.

Shown from left to right in the above photo, Angel Gonzales, Phyllis Sousley, Marsha Ackman, Edegar Mendoza and Steve Lehr were on TECO’s gift drive team this year. Karen Thomas, not shown, was also a team member.

We plan to continue the tradition to help brighten the spirits of children and teens who find themselves in the hospital during such a special time of year.
