TECO's Gift Drive: Helping make days brighter for children

For the fifth year in a row, Thermal Energy Corporation is helping to brighten the spirits of children and teens on the Texas Medical Center campus during the holidays. This year TECO volunteers collected and delivered 142 employee-donated gifts to MD Anderson Cancer Center.

The toy and gift drive began just before Thanksgiving and concluded with TECO’s Christmas breakfast where we announced how many items have been donated. This year’s goal was 125 gifts, so we are pleased to have exceeded our target!

TECO places gift-wrapped moving boxes in the lobby so employees and contractors easily can drop off their donations according to age groups (babies and toddlers, boys 5-12, girls 5-12, and teens). We also use donated cash to purchase gifts in the most-needed categories.

Linsey Whalen and Priscilla Avila organized TECO’s Christmas event this year, assisted by intern Enrique Cordova. Thank you for all you did to make the drive a success.

As a thank-you for their donations, TECO treated employees to breakfast tacos, fruit and juices from Laredo Taqueria.

In the past, TECO has donated gifts to children and teens at Shriners Hospital for Children, Texas Children’s Hospital, Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital (2x) and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

We plan to continue the gift drive tradition to help brighten the spirits of children and teens who find themselves in the hospital during such a special time of year.
